About Me

Bio

I am a dentist by trade and love helping people maintain good health. I am also enthusiastic about using my practical skills, leadership acumen, and passion for service to help make positive impacts in the community.

As Lead Dentist in Tarrant County Department of Corrections, I provide care to those who are justice-involved and historically underserved in four correctional facilities. I provide general dentistry, oral health education, and nutritional counseling.

An important part of my role is to build trust with the patients – creating a safe space for them, help them overcome their innate fear of dentists, and inspire them to improve their oral and personal health. I am also an actively involved board member for three local nonprofit organizations – the DMB Educational Foundation, United Way of Tarrant County, and the Fort Worth Kappa Foundation.

As a member of the DMB Educational Foundation leadership team, I help raise funds and provide four scholarships each year for underrepresented students in the Fort Worth Community.

As a member of the Compensation Committee for United Way of Tarrant County, I help rereview and approve compensation, and develop compensation outstanding philosophy

As Governance Committee Chair for the Fort Worth Opera, I help recruit and vet prospective board members and collaborate with the General Director in making strategic planning decisions.

As a member of the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth Kappa Foundation I am responsible for the management and distribution of six $6,000 scholarships awarded to worthy students who live in the Fort Worth community.

I also serve as scholarship chairman of the LSU Alumni Association A.P. Tureaud Black Alumni Chapter. I am responsible for managing the chapter’s three endowed scholarships.

I am fortunate to share my passion for philanthropy and community service with my wife, Dr. Aiyanna Anderson. We are dedicated improving the recruitment and retention of African Americans in the fields of medicine and dentistry.

We have established the Joe Ann Anderson memorial scholarship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and the Deborah Burton endowed memorial scholarship at Princeton University in honor of our late mothers.

A leader in the community both personally and professionally, I am comfortable guiding teams and working collaboratively to make strategic decisions and drive goals.
