The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration, a non-profit organization serving the greater New York   metropolitan area, is a leader in the field of curing blindness for thousands of men, women and children through cornea transplants.  Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2020, The Eye-Bank incorporates today’s best practices and state-of-the-art technologies across all departments – ocular laboratory; fundraising; public and professional education – in ways that effectively advance its sight-saving mission of providing the beautiful gift of sight.
Foundational to the success of any non-profit is a well-functioning Board of Directors. The fundamental duties of the Board are establishing the broad goals and policies in support of the overall mission, ensuring that there are adequate resources (money, people, access, facilities, etc.) to accomplish the agreed upon goals, and providing fiscal oversight to ensure that resources are used adequately. The Board serves a public interest in its oversight of an organization’s delivery of services and management of finances.
