Bio

Rosalinda Martinez is a proud Latina. Her Latinidad is a really important part of her identity. She is a longtime resident of the city of Fort Worth, Texas. Her cultural roots shaped and impacted  her involvement in the community. Her unique cultural values afforded her an excellent opportunity to use her leadership skills with several nonprofits and the Fort Worth Independent School District.

Rosalinda is no stranger to community and civic involvement.  Her volunteer activities began when she joined the Fort Worth ISD, Parent Teacher Association (PTA). She spent the last 15 years serving in many capacities as PTA Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and President. She continues to support and promote the mission of the PTA encouraging parents and community leaders to get involved and become advocates for our students. And currently serves as North Side High School PTA Secretary. In 2018 Ms. Martinez was awarded the “Heroes for Children” District 13 Award from the Texas State Board of Education.

Rosalinda is active in her community. She has been recognized as Volunteer of the Year with the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains in 2012-13 and Women of Distinction “Take Action Award” 2016. She was recognized as Fort Worth Business Press “ Great Women of Texas” 2016. In 2018 she co-founded the Hispanic Heritage History Project Committee/Chicano/a Trailblazer Award to highlight the cultural, heritage and contributions of Hispanic/Latino to our city and community. In 2019 she was a founding members of Historians of Latino Americans (HOLA) Tarrant County. Formed out of a desire to create a history of Latinas/Latinos in Tarrant County aims to research, document, and archive our work and to share it with the community. It is our duty to document our history and share with future generations.

She is truly grateful to live in a colorful and vibrant community. Her goal is to build community wealth to reinforce our authentic identity, and unite our voices. Alongside her college sweetheart, Arturo Martinez Sr. of 20 plus years. Together they take pride in raising their three wonderful children, Isabel, Arturo Jr. and Elizabeth.
