About Me


Melissa was born in Mexico and moved to Texas at an early age. As a DACA recipient, Melissa understands the doors education can open for students. Her interest in helping students and parents understand and navigate the higher education world began while attending the University of North Texas in Denton and working for the Office of Outreach as a G-Force Mentor. Later on, she graduated with double degrees in Media Arts and Integrative Studies and started working as an Outreach Admissions Counselor at UNT-Denton. Melissa is now an Assistant Director in Admissions at the University of Texas in Arlington. She currently serves as the Dallas County Promise Associate for UTA, as well, and will soon complete her Master’s of Science in Learning Technologies. Her next educational goal is to receive her Project Management Professional Certification.As a DACA recipient, first-gen Latina, Melissa aims to help her community through service and by leading with integrity. She is a proud sister of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. and the Education Chair for the Hispanic Women Network of Texas – Fort Worth Chapter. Melissa is striving to open doors for underrepresented students to achieve their full potential.
