Bio

Sandy Martinez Russell is passionate about learning and educating others. She has been an educator for more than 20 years and her goal has been to grow leaders starting at a young age. She strongly believes by enriching and inspiring children today because they will grow up to become our country’s future leaders, Volunteerism is also important to Sandy. She has been very active in the city of Fort Worth, and has been recognized for her hard work. In 2015, the Greater Texas LULAC honored Sandy with its Community Serve Award. She has volunteered with the city of Fort Worth CERT’s Team (Community Emergency Response Team) where she was trained with basic skills to be able to respond to the community’s immediate needs in an aftermath of extreme disasters when emergency services are not immediately available. She also finished the CAPA (Clergy and Police Alliance) course where she also volunteered in the past. Sandy also volunteered with the North Texas Young Latino Leaders, the Greater Texas Lulac Council 22131 Sandy also served on the board for the DRC, formerly the day resource center, for two years, and served on the board for Hispano Éxito and Artes De La Rosa. She lead her group of “Community Friends” for over five years where every month, volunteers served and fed the homeless in Fort Worth. She served on the Board for Ballet Folklorico of Fort Worth for over five years and is currently the Chapter Chair for the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas. Sandy’s education background includes an associates degree from Tarrant County College, bachelor’s degree from Texas Wesleyan University and masters from the University of Texas Arlington. She was awarded a Principal Certification at Lamar University. She also holds TEFL and TKT certificates. She also has experience teaching abroad. Sandy is a firm believer in working together, networking, collaborating, and empowering others to become leaders.
